About Texel
With 13,000 inhabitants, Texel is the largest of the Netherlands’ Wadden Islands. You’ll find forests, dunes, beautiful long beaches (30 km) and vast, carefully protected nature reserves. You’ll also find a wealth of culture, several museums and unique, monumental village centres. The multifaceted natural surroundings, space, peace, freedom, and countless attractions make the island the ideal destination for a short break or a long holiday.
The biggest village on Texel is Den Burg. Here you’ll find the town hall and cinema, among others. In Oosterend you can admire many beautiful old buildings. And the monumental character of Den Hoorn is also well worth a visit. Texel’s youngest village is De Cocksdorp.
