Hoornder Thursdays

Den Hoorn plays host to Hoornder Thursdays in July and August each year. In the afternoons you’ll find a lovely market on Herenstraat with plenty of Texel products, a flea market on Klif with a weekly theme or, after the market has finished at around 7 o’clock, an extra attraction. Texel by horse and cart

The Jan Plezier now has a new route: through the dunes and forest. The covered wagon departs for this destination almost daily from Landgoed De Bonte Belevenis at the Rommelpot near Den Hoorn. En route the driver will tell you about the landscape and will also stop halfway to treat you to a coffee (or other drink) and a piece of Texel cake. Wezenspyk Cheese Farm regularly organizes guided tours of its young calves, cow panorama, milking robot, cheese room and cow-friendly milking system. Lighthouse open to the public!

Finally: the Texel lighthouse is now open to the public! It’s quite a climb, but the reward is definitely worth it: a fantastic view over the North Sea and Waddenzee, Vlieland and with a bit of luck Terschelling. Ecomare: the Wadden and North Sea centre

Ecomare is Texel’s Wadden and North Sea centre and houses a nature museum, seal sanctuary, sea aquarium, bird sanctuary, dune park and visitors’ centre. We are working on nature conservation in the Wadden and North Sea by informing and educating the public, as well as maintaining bird and seal sanctuaries. Texel Beer Brewery
